Total Product Life Cycle Support
MTI provides a unique set of tools and services for management of DMS issues
and Total Product Life Cycle Support. MTI provides experience, expertise
and the tools necessary to establish and maintain a successful DMS management
program. MTI has the engineers, logisticians, program managers and support
staff with unique capabilities to resolve DMS issues, while providing Total
Product Life Cycle Support through engineering, manufacturing and test
expertise.
Tools
Advanced Components Obsolescence Management (AVCOM) provides the customer
with system specific DMS management capability including modules for enhanced
DMS analysis. AVCOM has been selected by HQ AFMC as the primary tool for
DMS management capabilities across the Air Force. The AVCOM application
has analytical modules, which provide critical decision support by performing
a complete analysis of logistics impacts and common solutions sharing opportunities.
- Parts Commonality Analysis (PCA) Module identifies
usage of components across all managed systems in customer application,
can be used to
search for qualified part numbers inventoried under other NSNs.
- AVCOM
On-Line provides on-line internet service
for analysis and management of user defined parts, based
on Catalog Part
Numbers for semiconductor components.
Services
AVCOM Loading and Maintenance - MTI’s experienced personnel efficiently
extract data from Illustrated Parts Breakdowns, Source Control Drawings or
other engineering documentation. The documentation is annotated for its component
parts labeled with appropriate structure designation for entry into the data
entry module. The structure module is used to build a structure, which mirrors
the engineering documentation for eventual merge into the Master Database.
The parts are sent to the Component Verification Group (CVG) for manufacturer
status information or the Component Engineering Group (CEG) for new component
entry and attribute assignments, prior to final creation of the customer
specific AVCOM application.
ALERTS - MTI provides rapid notification to customers when parts specific
to their systems have been affected by End of Life (EOL) or Life of Type
(LOT) buy notices. This provides the maximum lead-time for evaluation and
resolution of discontinued parts and eliminates the need for manpower to
sift through large quantities of part numbers to determine if any affect
their
systems.
On-Site Technical Services - MTI’s personnel provide coordination of
data, training and detailed application support to meet customer requirements.
DMS Management Processes
Obsolescence Identification, Impact Analysis and Solution Options are provided
instantaneously.
Using AVCOM, the customer or MTI’s technical service support can quickly
identify obsolete partisan BOM’s, showing all form, fit, function (F3)
and die replacement candidates, including aftermarket and GEM. Impact analysis
can be quickly generated, showing the impact of all obsolete parts across
all systems managed in the customer specific application. The AVCOM Workbook
is a powerful tool for assessing system level impacts, in a way that quickly
points out significant obsolescence problems, whether confined to a single
CCA or spread across numerous CCA’s within the system. This “obsolescence
density“ picture is the key factor in deciding your solution implementation.
The Logistics and Mission Availability obsolete parts. As a result the component
issues can be prioritized based on usage rates and remaining part inventories
to
support the expected life of the program. In some cases the component may
be obsolete (no active manufacturers), but with a low usage rat and more
that enough inventory to support the life of the program, it became a non-priority
item.
Definition of Alternate Solution Options
When there are no typical solution options identified for an obsolete part
(i.e. F3, die replacement, GEM or aftermarket identified by AVCOM), MTI’s
CEG can evaluate potential alternative parts based on component parameters
(parametric search). When a potential candidate is being considered for
a component solution, our engineers can perform IC parameter characterization
on sample parts to validate the performance to requirements in the specification.
This process minimizes the time required to identify and procure viable
parts for replacement solutions. MTI engineering can define both emulation
and redesign candidate solutions at the component level. In addition, MTI
can re-engineer or redesign electronic assemblies from the hybrid level
through the system level.
Definition of Alternate Solution Options
Once all the potential solution options have been identified they can then
be evaluated, prioritized and recommendations made on which solution option
best meets the customer’s needs. Items for considerations include;
estimated mission impact, reliability, maintainability, schedule and technical
risk. Our engineering experience allows us to provide recommendations
to our customers on the best near and long term solutions.
Implement Solutions
MTI engineering and manufacturing capabilities are available to implement
a vast array of solutions. Each of these unique capabilities plays an integral
role in Total Product Life Cycle Support.
- Technical Data Package development, review or clean-up
- Prototype development
- VHDL Modeling
